Kolasinac has yet to be assigned a number at Arsenal. What options are available for him?

  • Departures of Gibbs and Debuchy could free up the numbers 2 and 3
  • 13, 21 and 22 are the lowest numbers available

The days of Arsenal players being unveiled with a squad number seem to be a thing of a past. Nowadays, the Arsenal social media team seem to relish revealing the number on their Twitter and Instagram accounts.

As such, Sead Kolasinac has yet to be given a number – that we know of, in any case.

So what number could he get?

Kolasinac wore the number 6 in his final season at Schalke, but with that number occupied by Laurent Koscielny, he won’t get that one at Arsenal.

The traditional full-back numbers of 2 and 3 are currently occupied by Mathieu Debuchy and Kieran Gibbs respectively. However, with both players likely to leave Arsenal this summer, it’s possible that Kolasinac could take one of their vacated numbers.

As our new starting left back or wing back, the number 3 would be appropriate.

Other numbers that could open up due to player sales are Carl Jenkinson’s 25, Joel Campbell’s 28 and, if Arsenal want to cause a stir, Jack Wilshere’s 10, although if that’s going to anyone, surely it will be Mesut Ozil.

Numbers 13, 22, 26, and 27 are all free. As is the number one jersey, if Kolasinac really wants to buck tradition.
