What did we learn from Arsenal’s kit launch on Wednesday?

Arsenal finally revealed their 2017/18 home kit on Wednesday morning and the launch proved that most fans don’t actually care about a new shirt if there are no new players to wear it.

While a lot of fans like Arsenal’s new kit, most weren’t that excited considering they believe that bringing out a shiny, new kit should be the least of the club’s worries after last season.

However, what did we learn from the Gunners’ kit launch?

Transfer window makes Gooners anxious

There’s nothing quite like a transfer window in which one or two key players could actually leave to put Gooners on the edge of an anxiety attack for four months straight.

With Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez appearing to stall over new deals and the Chilean being heavily linked with Bayern Munich and Manchester City, Arsenal fans are a little jumpy right now. Therefore, any ‘signs’ that either could be leaving this summer send us over the edge.

For example, on Wednesday morning, Ozil and Alexis weren’t included in the PUMA promotional image for the new kit. However, considering they’re sponsors are Adidas and Nike, this isn’t really a surprise.

Plus, they were included in Arsenal’s official promotional image.

Then, if you chose to order the shirt on the club’s website, both Danny Welbeck and Alexis were listed under the number seven.

This seems to have just been a genuine mistake, which has now been fixed.

Second and third kit on their way

The blue away kit and black and pink third kit are set to be ‘revealed’ (even though we all know exactly what they look like, thanks social media) during the Emirates Cup and Arsenal’s pre-season tour in Australian.

Robert Pires wants Arsenal to sign three players

Pires attended the kit launch in Kings Cross and admitted that he wants Arsene Wenger to sign Kylian Mbappe, Alexandre Lacazette, and Ousmane Dembele.

“Arsenal can do both – they can extend the contracts of Sanchez and Ozil and why not buy two or three players? If Arsene buys some players they can lift the Premier League trophy,” the legend said.

“Mbappe is a great player who has good potential. Of course he is very expensive but now in the UK anything is possible.

“Lacazette is a great player. And I love Ousmane Dembele at Dortmund, too.”

Shirt collars are Marmite

Some Gooners seemed to love the new collars, while others thought they looked strange.

I never knew a collar could cause so much controversy.

Fans don’t actually care about a kit launch

While the kit is nice, especially the darker, ‘old’ red, having an entire launch, not just for the first kit but then for the second and third every single season is a bit tedious.

As fans on Twitter pointed out, if they used the launch to unveil a new signing or two, it would be far better received.
