West Ham are interested in signing former Arsenal midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup.

  • Bilic coached Ozyakup at Besiktas and wants a reunion
  • Ozyakup left Arsenal in 2012

Slaven Bilic coached Ozyakup when he was manager of Besiktas and now, according to Fanatik, wants to bring him to West Ham to strengthen his midfield.

The Besiktas captain left Arsenal in 2012 when it became clear he wouldn’t get many first team chances at Arsenal. Since then, he has developed well, becoming the captain of Besiktas at 24 and a regular for the Turkish national team.

There were some reports last season that Arsenal were interested in bringing him back to the Emirates, but it seems unlikely anything will come of that.

Ozyakup has 12 months remaining on his current contract, but could still leave for up to €15m. Besiktas stand to make a significant return on their original €600,000 investment.

There are no reports of any sell-on clauses in Ozyakup’s contract, so it seems Arsenal won’t make any money off this.
