West Ham are believed to be preparing a second bid for Arsenal-target Henry Onyekuru, suggesting a deal isn’t close to being completed.
- Onyekuru was set to join Arsenal a couple of weeks ago
- West Ham were then said to be favourites to sign him
- Apparently they haven’t bid enough, despite the player having a low release clause
The Henry Onyekuru saga continues as the Express claim West Ham are preparing a second bid for the Nigerian – implying that they already had a bid rejected.
It was initially reported that the KAS Eupen forward was set to join Arsenal for around £6m. It was then revealed that Arsenal would have to increase their offer to just under £8m so the player could acquire a work permit.
Last week, Sky Sports said that West Ham had become the favourites to sign Onyekuru. The deal seemed pretty straightforward as the Nigerian reportedly had a release clause just for English clubs.
But now it seems the deal is a lot more complicated than first thought. Another Nigerian site, Score Nigeria, are claiming that Newcastle are also seriously interested.
I wouldn’t expect a quick resolution to this one any time soon.
