Arda Turan’s chances of joining Arsenal have taken a hit after Wenger said he didn’t want troublemakers at the club.

  • Wenger comments come from Turkish reports
  • Arda Turan retired from international football after an altercation with a journalist
  • Turan has been consistently linked with a move to Arsenal

So claims this report from Turkey, which quotes Wenger as saying: “I don’t want problem players.”

The comment relates to an incident involving a journalist while Turan was on international duty. The report claims Turan verbally and physically assaulted the journalist. Turan has since retired from international football.

Turan has been consistently linked with Arsenal in the last couple of years and this summer there have been fresh reports that a move could happen.

The 30-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements at Barcelona by new manager Ernesto Valverde and they could even sell for a cut price of £19m just to get him off their books.

It was believed he was a top target for Arsenal, but it seems this incident hasn’t endeared him to Arsene Wenger at all.
