Tottenham have dropped their interest in Everton midfielder Ross Barkley, putting Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea in a strong position to sign the England international.

  • Barkely looks set to leave Everton this summer
  • Spurs were seen as his most likely destination
  • Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea are also interested

Barkley is expected to leave Everton this summer after falling out with manager Ronald Koeman last season.

Tottenham were seen as his most likely destination, but the Metro reports they have dropped their interest due to Dele Alli’s rise to prominence. Spurs feel they have enough creative options in midfield.

Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea remain interested, however, although the Premier League trio may be put off by his £40m price tag.

The Everton academy product lost the manager’s confidence due to inconsistent form as well as refusing to sign a contract extension. Everton have since signed Davy Klaassen as a replacement.

Arsenal could make a move for the England international if they were to lose the likes of Mesut Ozil this summer, Barkley favours driving runs with the ball from deep and has a good eye for goal. There are questions about his decision-making, however.
