Stoke are the latest team to be linked with Kieran Gibbs, who looks as if he could be leaving Arsenal this summer.
- Gibbs made just 11 Premier League appearances last season
- Newcastle interested and not interested in Kieran Gibbs
- Newcastle, Watford and Brighton all want left-back
- £60k-per-week wage demands said to be a problem
- Defender will cost £15m
Gibbs has just one year left on his current Arsenal deal and with new left-back Sead Kolasinac predicted to shoot straight up the pecking order, it’s not looking as if the 27-year-old will hang around in north London for much longer.
Numerous Premier League teams, including Newcastle, Watford, and now reportedly Stoke, are said to be interested in the defender. However, his £15m asking price, combined with the fact that, at his age, he wants to be earning £60k-per-week in wages, is apparently putting them off.
Whether Stoke, who want to buy in some competition for the struggling Erik Pieters at left-back, will be prepared to cough up the cash remains to be seen.
Although Gibbs is Arsenal through-and-through and it’ll be a shame to see him go, if he wants first team football, he might have to.
