Long-term Arsenal target, Karim Benzema, has apparently asked to leave Real Madrid.

  • Benzema wants a move to club that can offer consistent playing time
  • Wenger’s a long-time fan of the France striker
  • Striker scored 11 goals in 29 La Liga appearances last season
  • Real Madrid anxious not to let Benzema and Morata leave

According to Spanish outlet, Diario Gol, Benzema, who scored 19 goals over all competitions for Los Blancos last season, has requested that he be sold this summer.

The 29-year-old wants more consistent playing time and considering he only featured for 1,913 minutes over 29 La Liga appearances last season (around 66 minutes on average per appearance), you can’t really blame him.

He did, however, feature heavily in their Champions League campaign.

The striker has been on Arsene Wenger’s wishlist for years. However, given his age, that interest seems to have gradually diminished. Or so most of us thought.

Liverpool and Paris Saint-German are also supposedly keeping an eye on the situation.

Real, however, are apparently eager on keeping hold of Benzema since Alvaro Morata also looks set to be leaving the Bernabeu this summer.

Despite his limited time on the pitch last season, Benzema still scored 11 goals in La Liga and assisted five.

He still has two more years on his current deal.
