Schalke have joined Arsenal in the race for Nantes youngster Amine Harit.

  • Nantes want just over £13m for Harit
  • Schalke have confirmed their interest
  • The 19-year-old has been linked with Arsenal

Schalke’s sporting director Christian Heidel has confirmed that the German club are interested in signing Harit, reports Goal.

The Nantes midfielder, like a lot of young French players, had been linked with Arsenal. The Gunners were scouting Harit heavily towards the end of last season.

Nantes are believed to be asking for just over £13m for the 19-year-old, who can play as an attacking-midfielder or on the flanks.

Harit represented France at the U20 World Cup and was part of the side that was knocked out by Italy in the quarter-finals.

He made 30 Ligue 1 appearances last season, creating 35 chances and making 88 successsful dribbles. He could well be a decent addition if chief playmaker Mesut Ozil does leave this summer.

Arsenal have no shortage of young attacking midfielders in their ranks already and could possibly add CSKA Moscow’s Aleksandr Golovin to the mix as well.
