Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez reportedly wants to join Real Madrid this summer, with a view to become a long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese international has been rumoured to be on his way out of Real Madrid as a result of a lack of support over his tax fraud allegations, and the Daily Star believes Sanchez is pushing through a move to replace him.

Arsenal reportedly want £50m for the Chilean international who has 12 months left on his current deal. Sanchez has so far refused a new deal, leaving the Gunners with the choice whether to cash in now or keep him for another year.

Arsenal have refused to do business with a fellow Premier League club amid rumours Manchester City were keen on his signature, so Real Madrid stand a chance of signing Sanchez if they are interested.

Despite being a former Barcelona player, Los Blancos could well consider a mover for the striker boasting 30 goals in all competitions last season. The 28-year-old netted 39 goals in 88 La Liga games at Barca.

Real manager Zinedine Zidane is currently overstocked in attacking players so it’s likely the La Liga champions and Champions League holders will have to let a number of players go before they add to the squad.

Despite Ronaldo having four years on his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu, and the club having no intentions of letting him go, his future remains up in the air this summer until an official announcement is made.

Reports suggest Sanchez has interest from Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Manchester City this summer, but his destination post-Arsenal is unknown.
