Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is close to joining Chinese Super League club Tianjin Quanjian.

  • Reports from Germany say that a £71m deal has been agreed
  • Aubameyang will earn £500k-per-week in China
  • Arsenal, among others, were linked with the striker

Aubameyang has been prolific during his time at Borussia Dortmund and it seemed a move to one of Europe’s big clubs was on the cards. The likes of Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea have all been linked.

However, there’s been a strange lack of interest in Aubameyang from Europe. According to talkSPORT, Sport Bild are reporting he’s on the verge of joining Chinese side Tianjin Quanjian. The Metro were also keen to highlight a cryptic Instagram post from Aubameyang.

In it, Aubameyang says it’s time for a new adventure. While the Metro link this to a potential transfer, they do miss the “#holiday” in the post, which might suggest Aubameyang is actually talking his time off.

That aside, Tianjin are believed to be willing to pay £71m for the 31-goal striker, offering wages of £500k-per-week. It could be bad news for Arsenal in their pursuit for a ruthless goalscorer given they won’t come close to matching such terms.
