Arsenal have announced that Yaya Sanogo will leave this summer.

  • Sanogo signed for Arsenal from Auxerre in 2013
  • Struggled for first team football
  • Went out on loan three times, scored just three goals

Arsenal have made the decision not to renew Sanogo‘s contract, which runs out on 30 June.

The striker signed from Auxerre in 2013 on a free having scored 10 goals in 13 Ligue 2 appearances.

However, the Frenchman never quite managed to replicate the success he’d enjoyed briefly in his late teens, and overall ended up only playing 872 minutes over all competitions for Arsenal’s first team. That’s not even 10 full 90-minute games in four years.

Granted, Sanogo was sent out on loan to Crystal Palace, Ajax, and Charlton but the striker only managed to score three goals in that time. A hat-trick for Charlton against Reading, which his loan team lost 4-3.

In recent seasons, the 24-year-old seemed to disappear off the face of the earth with people claiming he was injured. Sometimes he’d be spotted at London Colney training but then he’d vanish again, like we’d just imagined him.

It’s a shame but it’s the right time to go.

Arsenal also released youth players Stefan O’Connor, Kristopher da Graca and Kostas Pileas.

We wish Yaya, and the other lads, all the luck in the world at his next club.
