It looks like Dave’s time at Arsenal is coming to an end, so in his honour…

David Ospina came to town
After a wonderful World Cup campaign
Flappyhandski was done
His cup final won
And now departed to Swansea by train.

Expectations were high as our David arrived
At the Emirates, London’s N5
A Nice departee
Three million the fee
He was surely the best keeper alive.

At first he found chances quite hard to come by
With the Pole in the goal at his best
But then that top bloke
Got too fond of a smoke
Time to put Ospinaaaaaa to the test.

Unfortunately that’s when our story gets sad
For poor David was not up to scratch
His stature too little
His shot stopping brittle
And he wouldn’t come out for a catch.

His kicking was rather a problem as well
The halfway line seemed a pipe dream
The ball came straight back
Yet another attack
And once more he would let down the team.

It seemed that poor David’s time must be done
With a cup final approaching to win
Ospina’s a wreck
So start Mr Cech
And consign dear David to the bin.

But Arsene will always stick by his man
So just like when Fab’s time was nigh
David got his day
Winning trophies in May
Even though it’s now time to say bye.

Peter Cech is a solid professional in goal
Someone all our young keepers admire
And with Szczesny back home
From adventures in Rome
We don’t need a keeper so challenged on size.

Farewell, dear David, you gave it your best
But your best wasn’t quite tickety boo
It’s time to sell
But we wish you well
Wherever your next move takes you.
