There are conflicting reports in Spain about whether Alexis Sanchez will be joining Manchester City.

  • Spanish journalist Gerard Romero said Alexis to City would happen in a matter of days
  • Marca have refuted the reports, and state that Arsenal will not sell to City

It was reported by Spanish journalist Gerard Romero that Alexis Sanchez would be a Manchester City player in just a matter of days.

However, Marca have now claimed that this couldn’t be further from the truth.

In their report, they say that Arsenal are refusing to even negotiate a deal with any Premier League team.

Manchester City have been touted as favourites to sign Sanchez as they believe Pep Guardioa will be able to lure him up North. He’s one of City’s biggest targets this summer and they’re confident he wants to join them.

Arsene Wenger, though, is adamant that Arsenal will not sell to a rival and would prefer to keep him, even if it means losing him on a free transfer next summer.

“If he doesn’t sign a new deal, will I make him stay? Yes,” Wenger said in April.

“Would I rather keep him than sell him to a Premier League rival? Yes. I don’t think you would sell him to any Premier League club, that is for sure. Why not? The question is more why would you sell him to another Premier League club? You want to be as strong as you can be and not strengthen the other teams.”

The saga continues…
