While Arsene Wenger has been playing coy over Arsenal’s potential move for Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez this summer, it’s being reported that the Gunners will only attempt to sign the winger if Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez reject new deals.

Whether Arsenal sign Mahrez or not all depends on Ozil and Sanchez’s next moves.

If they sign their new reported £280k-per-week deals, according to the Telegraph, it’s unlikely that Wenger will sign try to Mahrez.

If they don’t, the Frenchman will apparently make an offer reported to be in the region of £50m.

This makes perfect sense and would fit in with Wenger’s vague comments over whether the Gunners will bid for the 26-year-old, since he probably doesn’t know himself just yet.

At the moment, the most important piece of business the manager can complete is tying Sanchez and Ozil down to new deals.
