Hector Bellerin played the full 90 minutes for Spain U21s and grabbed an assist as La Roja beat Portugal to all but book their place in the semi-finals of the U21 European Championships.

Spain enjoyed a 3-1 win at the Stadion GOSiR, courtesy of goals from Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez, Everton-bound striker Sandro Ramirez and Bilbao attacker Inaki Williams.

Albert Celades’ Spain side are currently top of Group B with a maximum six points from the two games, scoring eight and conceding just once. They look on course for the semis and Bellerin could well be adding to his trophy cabinet.

The Arsenal defender has so far played every minute in the U21 European Championships for Spain, starting with Saturday’s 5-0 drubbing of Macedonia and this week’s win over second-placed Portugal – assisting the opening goal for Saul.

While manager Arsene Wenger had his reservations about Bellerin representing the U21s given his injury troubles and inconsistent form last season, the right-back looks in great condition and is expected to start for Spain against Serbia on Friday.
