Former Gunner, Charlie Nicholas, had some choice words for the Arsenal board recently.
- Charlie Nicholas played for Arsenal from 1983-88
- Thinks board needs to be under scrutiny too
- Believes Wenger is the right man for the Arsenal job
Speaking to sports journalist, Mark Mann-Bryans, recently, Nicholas launched into a completely justifiable rant about the Arsenal board not doing their jobs properly.
Just like the current Arsenal team, the former player argues, the board don’t have any stand-out leaders and they should be under scrutiny just as much as Arsene Wenger, who’s taken the brunt of fan frustration after a difficult season.
Spoke to Charlie Nicholas yesterday, spoke strongly and passionately about #AFC – rather damning of board rather than Wenger… 1/4

CN: "These gentlemen have to realise that if you fail in your job you don't belong there either so they need to be under scrutiny." #AFC 2/4

CN: "I have no problem with AW staying, he is still a genius, but he has struggled and has been too loyal to too many players." #AFC 3/4.

CN: "The real problem is the board have shown no leadership. It is fine to sit in America and stay out of the firing line." #AFC 4/4

It’s refreshing to hear a former player speak so frankly about the way the Arsenal board conducts itself while simultaneously admitting that the manager has needed help.
It’s all very well and good hearing about how much these men behind the scenes love the club but we never actually see it.
