Jamie Carragher has said he would be worried about Arsene Wenger’s recent comments if he was an Arsenal fan.

Arsene Wenger has recently claimed that Arsenal aren’t too far behind from the other top sides in the league but Jamie Carragher has a different opinion.

The ex-Liverpool man said, “If I was an Arsenal fan, I would still have ended this week worried.

“Why? Wenger’s comments about them being very close to the title. Things remain a long way from being perfect.”

It’s hard to argue with Carragher.

Arsenal haven’t won the Premier League since the Invincible’s in 2003/04, and their only success has come in the last four years when they’ve won FA Cup three times.

Wenger recently committed himself to Arsenal for another two years after the win against Chelsea in the FA Cup but they finished fifth in the Premier League and will start their quest for European silverware in the Europa League for the first time in 21 years.

They are still a very good side, but the squad lacks depth and quality in certain positions and the Gunners tend to lose plenty of points in games they should be winning easily.

With the season now over, there is plenty of speculation regarding transfers and the willingness of the manager and the club to spend big, but as of yet, their only signing is Sead Kolasinac who came on a free transfer from Schalke.

The deal for Kylian Mbappe was to become Arsene Wenger’s biggest statement on the market but the French striker looks like he’s staying at Monaco for at least another season.
