Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has seemingly ruled out a move for Alexis Sanchez.

  • Hoeness doesn’t want to build team around “€100m veterans”
  • Said Bayern should focus on developing young talent
  • Bayern were already unwilling to pay what Alexis wanted

A move to Bayern Munich is looking more and more unlikely for Alexis. Reports from the German media already suggested that Bayern weren’t willing to pay what Alexis wanted in wages. Now their president Uli Hoeness has said that Bayern’s priorities should be elsewhere.

“Everyone is talking about building a new team and how Bayern Munich’s future must be shaped,” he said, report Goal. “And then Bayern does exactly that – signs young players between 20 and 22 – and is criticised once again.”

He added, alluding to rumours of interest in Arsenal’s Alexis: “But you can’t build a new team with €100 million transfers for 29 and 30-year-olds. That isn’t a policy. Either we go down this road with all these young players, all getting a chance to play, or we don’t go down this road.”

This would suggest that they’ve given up trying to sign the Chilean. That could be good news for Arsenal, as it’s one less club interested in signing him. On the other hand, it’d be one less foreign option for Arsenal, who are trying to fend off domestic interest from Manchester City.
