According to Spanish outlet, Sport, Mahrez was keen on a move to Barcelona and even spoke with them this summer. However, their failure to prioritise bringing him to Spain over PSG’s Verratti has turned him off the move and instead pushed him towards Arsenal.

The Gunners are said to be willing to offer him a four-year deal and Leicester are apparently only asking for £35m, which isn’t a huge amount of money considering the current climate and the fact that he still has three years left on his current agreement.

story trackerArsenal have been linked with the Leicester forward since last year. However, the 26-year-old chose to stay with the Foxes and sign a new contract after their impressive title winning campaign the previous season.

Last term, they failed to replicate their 2015/16 success and finished in 12th, which has led Mahrez to be heavily linked with a move away.
