Arsenal have been strongly linked with Monaco winger Thomas Lemar as have Tottenham, but the Gunners seem to be ahead of their north London rivals.

  • Arsenal are looking to bolster their squad for a title charge next season
  • Lemar said to be interested in a move despite lack of Champions League football
  • History of French players at Arsenal could be a factor

French newspaper L’Equipe have linked the Gunners with a move for Monaco’s Thomas Lemar, one of several French players Arsenal could be chasing this summer.

With the future of Arsene Wenger sorted, Arsenal are preparing to go hard in the transfer market to build a squad capable of winning the Champions League.

Lemar would be an exciting signing and L’Equipe allay any fears that the player could be turned off by a lack of Champions League football.

The possibility of winning the Premier League, as well as a history of successful French players at the club, are said to be enough for Lemar to join.

Arsenal could face competition from Juventus and Tottenham for him. Lemar has two years left to run on his current contract at Monaco.
