Arsenal are the first in line for Karim Benzema, after reports recently emerged he could leave Real Madrid this summer.
- Arrival of Kylian Mbappe could result in Benzema depature
- Arsenal are long-time admirers and would still be keen on signing
According to Don Balon, Karim Benzema could leave Real Madrid this summer should they sign Kylian Mbappe from AS Monaco. The signing of Mbappe would put Benzema’s starting spot at risk and the Spanish paper speculate this could result in the player leaving.
Benzema, 29, has been on Arsenal’s radar since his Lyon days. This type of story will be very familiar to Arsenal fans as Benzema is said to be leaving Madrid every summer for one reason or another.
He is, though, well-liked by club president Florentino Perez and manager Zinedine Zidane and doesn’t appear to want to leave Los Blancos, especially given the club’s recent success in Europe.
With a number of younger strikers on the market, such as the likes of Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette and Everton’s Romelu Lukaku, Arsenal’s attention could well be else where.
