Arsenal have reportedly made a bid for Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez this summer but it’s believed to be below Los Blancos’ asking price.

  • Rodriguez was left out of Real Madrid’s Champions League final squad
  • The Colombian wants more playing time
  • Arsenal and Inter Milan are said to have made bids

According to the Metro, sources in Spain are claiming that Arsenal made an official bid for the Colombian midfielder. The offer is said to fall short of Madrid’s £70m valuation.

Italian Serie A giants Inter Milan also have an interest in Rodriguez but their bid is also believed to be too low for the La Liga title-winners to consider.

Rodriguez has struggled for regular first team football this season and his omission from Madrid’s Champions League final squad suggests that his time there is coming to an end.

The Colombian said back in December that he could leave if he didn’t start more games.

“I can’t assure I will stay at Real Madrid,” he said. “I am happy in Madrid, but I want to play more.”

Rodriguez would be an exciting signing for Arsenal, though it would depend on the futures of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. It’s doubtful Arsenal would spend £70m on someone only to stick him on the bench or play him out of position.
