Florian Lejeune is close to joining Newcaslte from Eibar.

  • Arsenal were said to be interested in the French centre back
  • Marca now report Lejeune will move to Newcastle

Marca have reported that the French centre back is all but certain to join Newcastle, with Eibar’s sporting director Fran Garagaza admitted it’d be “very complicated” to stop the move.

Lejeune had been linked with a move to Arsenal and Tottenham but Garagaza has said that Newcastle are “taking very strong steps” to get the move completed.

Lejeune was a near ever-present for Eibar last season and played a big role in helping them to a more-than respectable mid-table finish.

Arsenal were never strongly linked with the player, nor do they seem to be looking at central defenders in general at this moment in time.

Virgil van Dijk has been the one name to come up regularly, but he’s been linked with every top Premier League club.
