Real Madrid midfielder Isco is set to sign a contract extension, ending any speculation that he could leave the club.
- Isco had been linked with Arsenal, Spurs, Manchester City and Juventus
- He’s become an important part of Zidane’s team after being a squad player
- The contract extension will likely kill any future speculation about his future
The news will disappoint the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester City, who were all believed to be interested in the Spaniard, according to The Sun.
Isco has been in-and-out of the Madrid team since they signed him from Malaga and has found himself second-fiddle to Gareth Bale this season.
However, recently he’s been starting more games under Zinedine Zidane and started the Champions League final ahead of James Rodriguez and Bale, which is a tremendous show of confidence in him.
Isco has a year left on his current deal and had the situation not changed, he would have almost certainly been available for transfer in the summer. But speaking to Spanish TV, he said:
“Yes, like I’ve been saying. I am very happy in Madrid and I hope to stay here for many years. Right now, there is just a year left on my contract, but we are very close to agreeing a new deal.”
