Arsenal are apparently interested in Eibar centre back Florian Lejeune.

  • Arsenal, Spurs and Newcastle are after the Eibar defender
  • Lejeune has £8.7m release clause in his contract

Lejeune has been attracting interest from bigger clubs after a standout season in Spain.

Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle are believed to be amongst the club’s interested and could activate the player’s £8.7m release clause.

Lejeune has been at Eibar for just one season after he joined from Manchester City last summer for £1.2m.

The 26 year old has already played for a number of clubs, including Agde, Istres, Villareal, Brest, Girona and Manchester City. Although his contract with Eibar runs until 2020, he could be on the move again.

Lejeune has gained a reputation for being an aggressive and powerful defender. He played 34 times as Eibar finished an impressive 10th in La Liga.

Arsenal aren’t short on centre backs and will have other priorities this summer.

Should they be looking at defenders, Lejeune is unlikely to be a top target.
