Arsenal supporters were sent into a frenzy on social media after Danny Welbeck was given Alexis Sanchez’s shirt number on the club website for fans to buy replica shirts.

Express reported: ""Welbeck was tagged up us number seven on the drop down list when given the option of who to have printed on the back of the new shirt."

Wednesday’s kit launch at Kings Cross was highly criticised for the small nature of the event and the drab atmosphere that surrounded it. Normally, there would be a lot of buzz for a club like Arsenal, but the launch was played down on social media by the club.

The latest blunder made by Arsenal, as reported by the Express, saw supporters the subject of ridicule as fans desperate sought answers if Welbeck was really to be given the #7 shirt next season, or if it was a simple administration mistake.

Given Sanchez appeared in the promotion pictures, coupled with manager Arsene Wenger’s insistence that he’ll stay this season, the Chilean could well be remaining at Arsenal for one more campaign.
