As if Gooners didn’t already have enough reasons to hate Chelsea, the Blues’ move for Monaco’s Tiemoue Bakayoko could screw up Arsenal’s potential deal for him teammate, Thomas Lemar.

  • Monaco paid Caen £3.4m for Lemar in 2015 – he’s now worth 10x that
  • Chelsea edging closer to £40m move for midfielder Bakayoko
  • French club have already sold Bernardo Silva to City and are struggling to keep Mbappe
  • Reluctant to part with another midfield – Lemar

Monaco have already allowed Bernardo Silva to leave for Manchester City this summer and apparently the Ligue 1 side, who don’t want to see their squad completely decimated, are unwilling to allow both Bakayoko and Lemar go as well.

According to the Mirror, Bakayoko is edging closer to a £40m move to Stamford Bridge and with Monaco also struggling to keep hold of 18-year-old striker, Kylian Mbappe, it’s not likely that they’ll allow another player to walk out the door. Not this year, anyway.

Arsene Wenger is apparently a big fan of Lemar, who’s now worth 10 times what Monaco originally paid Caen for him in 2015, and is keen on bringing him to north London. However, if Chelsea get there first by signing Bakayoko, the Frenchman will have trouble persuading the Ligue 1 club to let go.
