According to reports, Arsenal had the chance to sign Kylian Mbappe from Monaco last summer for a mere £230,000.

  • Arsene Wenger also admitted visiting Mbappe in person to try and make the deal happen in the summer

After his magnificent season with Monaco, the 18-year-old is now a target for the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, with his transfer fee skyrocketing beyond €100m.

Despite the fact that his price has reached astronomical heights, Arsenal are still believed to have enough determination to pursue the player.

Even with Real Madrid in the talks, the Gunners could have a better chance of signing Mbappe due to a long-standing relationship with the player and his family, and with Arsene Wenger’s promise of further developing the player.

Another significant advantage for Arsenal is that they plan to offer a significant amount of first team opportunities in his natural position as a striker.

That’s something Real Madrid can’t do with the likes of Benzema, Ronaldo, Morata and Bale. It would be hard to pick one of those to sit a game out due to the youngster, no matter how talented he is.

Arsenal are said to have submitted two bids for Mbappe, but the player could be set for a Monaco stay.
