Along with the launch of the new 2017/18 kit, Arsenal have revealed that Kolasinac, who will officially become an Arsenal player on 1 July, will wear the number 31 shirt.
The left-back takes the shirt from 19-year-old midfielder, Jeff Reine-Adelaide, who suffered a season-ending injury last term.
It’ll be interesting to find out the story behind Kolasinac’s choice of the number 31 shirt, since he was number six – a traditional defender’s number – at Schalke. And when first team players have higher, non-traditional numbers, there tends to be a reason.
Perhaps it’s temporary and the Bosnia international will end up getting Mathieu Debuchy’s number two if the Frenchman leaves this summer. Or Kieran Gibbs’s three.
