Atletico Madrid and France striker Antoine Griezmann paid tribute to Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud after his hat-trick on international duty.

The 30-year-old lost his place in the Arsenal side in 2016/17 which threatened to hamper his chances for Les Blues. But Giroud proved his worth with three goals in an international friendly against Paraguay and his country teammate Griezmann was full of praise.

“It will do him good. When he’s in form like that, it’s perfect for us. We need him at this level to go further,” reports Soccerway.

“We’ve seen some good things. This is our No.9. The coach has great confidence in him. We try to give him the balls so that he can score. We’re going to try to do everything we can to make sure he keeps scoring.”

Giroud comes under a lot of scrutiny for his lack of pace, often poor movement and poor scoring record against the elite clubs in an Arsenal shirt but he’s proven how ruthless he is in front fo goal with good support this season.

He still scored 16 goals and made seven assists despite making the majority of his appearances from the substitutes’ bench, and his three-goal hual against Paraguay proves he’s worth keeping for club and country.
