Arsene Wenger has the chance to make Arsenal the most successful team in FA Cup history on Saturday.
- Arsenal have reached the most FA Cup finals (20)
- Wenger is level with ex-Aston Villa manager on FA Cup trophies won
- Claims he wants to win cup for the players
- Arsenal v Chelsea kicks off 27 May, 5:30pm
Wenger not only has the chance to help Arsenal to their 13th FA Cup win this weekend, he could become the most successful manager in the history of the competition by clinching his seventh.
At the moment, the Gunners are tied on 12 with Manchester United, and, while the boss is already the most successful manager in the FA Cup in recent history, he’s still level with Aston Villa’s George Ramsay, who won six FA Cups between 1887 and 1920.
However, speaking ahead of the final clash with Chelsea, Wenger insisted that breaking this record isn’t his priority.
“As I just said, I want to do it just to win the cup, because I think the team has redressed very well the situation on the sporting side,” the boss told the press.
“That will be a good crowning of what we have done in the last two months. The team has given so much, I think they really want to win something. On top of that, [if] I have some benefit as well, it’s OK, but that’s not my main worry.”
As Wenger says, there’s no point in thinking about breaking records. First, Arsenal need to beat Chelsea.
