Arsene Wenger has admitted that he was wrong when he announced that he would reveal his decision over his future in March or April.

  • Wenger originally said decision would be made in March/April
  • Claims he made decision after West Brom loss in March
  • Yet to announce future, claims he was wrong to say March/April
  • Announcement set to take place after season ends

Although it’s looking more and more likely that Wenger will be signing a new deal with Arsenal, he’s yet to announce his decision, which he claimed to have made following the Gunners’ 3-1 loss away to West Brom back on 18 March.

He claimed that he would reveal his decision soon.

However, before that, he had also insisted that he would announce what his future held in March or April.

“I will decide (my) future in March or April, but I don’t (exactly) know when,” Wenger said back in February.

“I speak to the board but I don’t want to speak about how they view my future. What’s important is the club, not my future. No matter what happens, I will manage next season whether it is here or not. That is for sure.”

Obviously, this hasn’t happened.

When asked about this during his pre-Manchester United presser, the manager simply stated, “We are in May, so I was wrong.”

So, why is Wenger waiting so long to announce his decision?

If he’s staying, considering the terrible season Arsenal have had, there’s not exactly a good time to announce it.

Wenger will confirm his future once the season’s over.
