Arsene Wenger was predictably vague when questioned over his Arsenal future during his pre-FA Cup final presser on Wednesday morning.
- Arsenal allegedly set to make Wenger announcement on FA Cup final day
- Wenger expected to sign two-year deal
- Manager still won’t confirm or deny if he’ll be at Arsenal next season
- Claims he’ll still be in management elsewhere if not with Gunners
Arsenal have the chance to win their 13th FA Cup trophy – their seventh under Wenger – this Saturday at Wembley.
Also expected to happen on Saturday is an announcement over Wenger’s future.
While it’s widely thought that the Frenchman will sign a new contract with the Gunners, he’s still being pretty cagey when asked about it, even claiming that he ‘doesn’t know’ whether the FA Cup final would be his final game for Arsenal.
“I cannot answer that question at the moment,” he told the media.
“It will not be my last match anyway because no matter what happens I will stay in football.”
“I don’t know (whether I’ll be at Arsenal next season).
“No [the result will not have an impact]. Why [should it]? I don’t care about me, I care about us winning the game on Saturday.
“When you go in the game, a cup final, you can accept the challenge and just want to win it. The last worry I have is myself.
“The team has given so much and they really want to win something this season.”
Wenger claimed he’d made a decision regarding his future back in March, which he announced after losing 3-1 to Tony Pulis’s West Brom.
So, either he was lying then or lying now.
Whichever it is, the decision should have been announced months ago.
