Arsenal’s Wojciech Szczesny could join Juventus this summer if he accepts being on the bench for the 2017/18 season.

  • Szczesny could be understudy to Buffon for a year
  • The Polish keeper could be reluctant to do so in World Cup year
  • Napoli are also interested

Szczesny spent the season on loan in Serie A with Roma and enjoyed a successful campaign. It seems Arsenal have no intention of preventing him from leaving.

Napoli were believed to be the frontrunners. However, Tuttosport claim that Juventus have now expressed an interest.

Juventus are looking at keepers who could eventually replace the legendary Gianluigi Buffon and see Szczesny as an option.

However, the Arsenal man would have sit on the bench for at least a year as Buffon remains the undisputed number one choice between the sticks.

With the World Cup in Russia looming in the summer of 2018, Szczesny would be reluctant to spend the season not playing, as he risks losing his spot as Poland’s number one.

Juventus are hoping that €4m a year could tempt him.

With David Ospina set to leave Arsenal, Szczesny could still return to Arsenal and fight for a place with Petr Cech. The player himself said he was open to the possibility in a recent interview.

However, he’s enjoyed his time in Italy and has improved a lot. A chance to be number one at Roma or Napoli may be too good to turn down, let alone the Serie A title winners and Champions League finalists keeping tabs on his development.
