Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour believes his old club should sign Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart if David Ospina leaves in the summer.

As reported by the Express, Parlour was weighing up Hart’s options after the England shot-stopped revealed he would be leaving City after returning from a loan spell in Torino. Arsenal and Liverpool are among a number of clubs linked with Hart and Parlour thinks Arsene Wenger should consider replace Ospina for the Sky Blues man.

“ There isn’t (a way back) at City no, he’s not going to be a No.2 is he? He needs to go to a club now, I hope he comes back to the Premier League. Arsenal have got (David) Ospina and (Petr) Cech and that could be a good question,” he said.

“Whether Ospina is going to leave, Fenerbahce have been interested in him. But would he be in front of Cech? I’m not sure. It’s a really close one that one.” Hart will be desperate for first-team football to boost his chances of staying as England’s number one, but he may only be at a top European side now as second-choice.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has used the FA Cup, EFL Cup and Champions League as a way of keeping his second-choice goalkeeper happy, something Hart may consider if it means he’s challenging for major honours. But the 30-year-old is expected to take his time before making a decision.
