Ozil: This Arsenal goal was the best of my career

Mesut Ozil has revealed that the goal he scored against Ludogorets in the Champions League back in November was the best goal of his career.

  • Ozil scored Arsenal’s spectacular third goal away at Ludogorets to ensure win
  • Goal secured progression to final 16
  • Claims it was best goal of his career – like something out of a video game

After scoring a hat-trick against the Bulgarian team during their visit to the Emirates in October, Ozil was once again instrumental in Arsenal’s win the following month at Vasil Levski National Stadium.

Arsenal initially went 2-0 down within 15 minutes through Cafu and Claudiu Keșerü. However, goals from Granit Xhaka and Olivier Giroud put the visitors back on level terms.

With just two minutes of normal time left to play, Ozil danced up the pitch by himself, picking up a long ball, chipping the keeper and dribbling into the box, sending Ludogorets players sliding all over the shop, before calmly slotting the ball into the net.

His goal not only meant that Arsenal won the match 3-2, they also secured progression to the final 16 of the Champions League with two matches to go.

“I’m proud of quite a few of my goals but that one against Ludogorets was like on PES!” Ozil told Goal.

“Passing three or four opponents and then scoring. When I watch it, I think it was the best goal of my career.”
