Kelechi Nwakali’s agent is hopeful that the Nigerian midfielder will return to Arsenal this summer to continue his development at the Emirates rather than out on loan again.
Nwakali has impressed this season on loan with MVV Maastricht and the talk around the move suggests it only happened because Arsenal could not get a work permit for the extremely talented youngster.
“The season just ended in Holland and all things being equal, Nwakali will first return to Arsenal now the loan deal at MVV Maastricht ended this season,” Olumide Olowu told Completesportsnigeria. com.
“We’ll be going into fresh talks with Wenger to know what the future holds for Nwakali. I hope the young man will return to Arsenal and continue to build his future there.”
The player, for his part, is said to be ‘eager’ to finally get to Arsenal and is hopeful that he can prepare for life in London next season.
When Nwakali moved to the Netherlands, he was given the option of leaving in January if he failed to settle. But he did the exact opposite, and shone regularly for his loan side.
Arsenal signed Nwakali on a five-year deal last summer. He was named FIFA U-17 World Cup player of the tournament in 2015, yet apparently this isn’t ‘special’ enough for the UK Home Office to issue him a special talent visa.
Maybe this summer…
