Charlie Nicholas believes that Arsenal need to sign up to SIX players and has hit out at the lack of leadership at the club, from the boardroom right down to the dressing room.

  • Nicholas says it is the club and not the team that is broken
  • Asks what Arsene Wenger is waiting on to clarify his future
  • Calls for major overhaul of playing staff

Former Arsenal man, Charlie Nicholas has said that Arsenal need ‘five or six’ new players just to fix themselves before they even think of what’s needed to chase a title.

Arsenal crashed at Tottenham, sealing their fate below their north London neighbours for the first time in 22 years.

That, on its own, would have been bad enough, but the manner of defeat, coupled with the problems and humiliations that the side have suffered with increasing regularity have led to a toxic atmosphere infecting all aspects of the fanbase, with no clear way of cutting through it to the satisfaction of all involved.

“It is an absolute mess,” Charlie told talkSPORT.

“It is not the team that is broken, it is the club that is broken. There is no leadership from anywhere and it is painful for me to see.

“Arsene Wenger, I don’t know what he is waiting on to clarify [his future]. Please come out and tell us what is going on at the football club.

“We are not going to be in the Champion League so what are we actually facing now? I think Arsenal are facing five or six [new] players just to repair, not to even get close [to the title] again.”

Indeed, Charlie. Indeed
