Marcotti, an England-based Italian sports journalist and presenter, claims that he’s been ‘led to believe’ that if Arsenal finish the season strongly, i.e. in the top four and win the FA Cup against Chelsea on 27 May, then Wenger is actually far more likely to leave.

“The one glimmer of hope for people who don’t like Arsene Wenger is that I’ve been led to believe that if he finishes the season on a high, then there’s a much greater chance of him leaving,” Marcotti said.

Many have assumed that Wenger will only leave if forced out of the club. However, it does make complete sense that he would rather ‘clean up’ the mess that has been the Gunners’ season and leave on a high, rather than appear as if he’s doing a runner.

It would be in line with the Frenchman’s personality. He doesn’t like to be seen as a victim and loves Arsenal club with everything he has. It seems out of character for him to leave the club in such a state, no matter how much the fans wanted him gone.

Although most believe he’ll stay anyway, an FA Cup win would make him the most successful manager in the competition with six trophies, and Arsenal would be the most successful club (13).

What a note to leave on.
