Alex Iwobi wants a return to the Arsenal starting lineup against Manchester United after failing to feature in the last five league games.

The youngster, who started the season strongly, suffered badly from a drop in form resulting  in him being benched recently.

Unused against West Ham, Middlesbrough, Leicester and Spurs, he wasn’t even in the squad for the game against Palace, instead playing with the u23s. Against City in the FA Cup semi-final, he also spent his time at Wembley on the bench.

“No player will feel comfortable sitting on the bench,” Iwobi told Sky Sports ‘Premier League Fan Zone’.

“I have been an unused substitute in the last four games. I wish to return against United. I am fit, I know my worth. I love to play all the time. We are currently battling for the Premier League top four and I hope things change for better.

“I will be glad to see us finish in a good position. I can’t imagine myself watching from distance in the next coming games.

“The fans think I’m not fit, they have forgotten Wenger has changed his tactics and formation from the one I used to know. I keep my hope alive for the next game.

“I have no other club. London is my home. I have no choice than to keep fighting for shirt. I will never quit Arsenal no matter what till I get it right.”

Iwobi has made 36 first team appearances this season, scoring four and assisting seven.

He is unlikely to return to the starting lineup against United, although given how Arsene Wenger is picking his team these days, you can never make any lineup prediction with any sort of confidence.
