Alex Iwobi insists that he’ll continue pushing to make Arsenal’s first team, despite his dip in form during the latter ages of this season.

  • Iwobi had break-through season last year
  • Made 24 Premier League appearances this season
  • Says he’s overcome worse
  • Wants to keep moving forward

Iwobi started the season strongly, breezing into Arsene Wenger’s starting lineup after a brilliant pre-season and cementing his place in the first team in no time.

After Iwobi’s break-through season last year, Arsenal fans were excited to see how he would develop.

However, the forward’s form dipped slightly and the 20-year-old has been dropped to the bench.

Speaking to the Arsenal magazine recently, the Nigeria international insisted that he’ll overcome this and will keep working to get back into the starting lineup.

“If I can overcome things that I believe were worse than what’s going on now, then surely I should be able to overcome this,” he said.

“I’m the type of person who likes to keep moving forward.

“You have to improve day by day and obviously we’re not doing as well as we believe we should be doing, so when the next challenge comes up we have to try to prove to the fans and prove to everyone at Arsenal what we can do.

“We have some big games coming up, so everyone should be pumped up. We need to prove ourselves in these games.

“We have to prove to everyone that we can play against these top teams.”

Iwobi’s still young and it’s possible that, due to his ability, he was overplayed. No player, especially one as relatively inexperienced as Iwobi, can perform all the time.

After he’s had a rest and regained some of his confidence, I’m sure Iwobi will be back even stronger than before.
