Granit Xhaka has completed the second most passes in the Premier League this season.

  • Xhaka makes more passes on average per game than Azpilicueta
  • Azpilicueta has been in Premier League for almost five years
  • Chelsea man has played 90 minutes in every Premier League game this season
  • Arsenal midfielder has better pass accuracy

Since signing from Borussia Mönchengladbach in the summer, Xhaka has completed a total of 2250 passes in the Premier League, second only to Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta with 2381.

While this alone seems impressive considering that Azpilicueta has been in the league since 2012 and Xhaka has never played in England before, when you look at their passes-per-game tally, the Gunner actually comes out on top.

Although Xhaka has featured in 31 Premier League games this season, he’s only played a total of 2424 minutes, which works out as 26.93 full 90-minute games.

Azpilicueta, meanwhile, has played for 3330 minutes over 37 games, which means that he’s played every single Premier League game for Chelsea this season in full.

Therefore, when you divide their passes by games, you get 83.5 passes per game for Xhaka, and 64.35 for Azpilicueta.

Xhaka also has an average pass accuracy percentage of 89%, while Azpilicueta’s is 87%.

Elsewhere – sort of – Alexis Sanchez has scored the most away goals: 15.

To put this into perspective, even Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero couldn’t beat him (13).

On top of this, the Chilean also won the Gunners 13 points this season, and is the third-top goalscorer (23).
