Gilberto Silva has urged Arsenal to move quickly in the transfer market.

  • Arsenal legend fears lack of planning could hold Arsenal back
  • Says Arsenal cannot afford to wait for decision to be made on Arsene Wenger’s future.

Speaking to BBC 5 Live, Gilberto expressed his concerns about Arsenal’s lack of transfer activity.

He stated that Arsenal had to move quickly to secure targets regardless of whether Arsene Wenger is staying or not.

His concerns come off the back of Manchester City’s recent £46 million acquisition of Monaco’s Bernardo Silva. It was a high profile deal completed in seemingly no time at all.

Of course, it’s likely that City had been negotiating that deal during the season. Nonetheless, they secured a much admired player with the efficiency that’s been lacking from Arsenal’s own transfer dealings.

Gilberto’s concerns are legitimate. Arsenal are slow enough without a power struggle slowing things down further.

However, the reports of Schalke defender Saed Kolasinac being set to join Arsenal on a free transfer perhaps suggest that some work has already been done on transfers.

Granted, that signing has yet to be confirmed, and whether Arsenal can get a big-money move completed quickly is another matter entirely.
