Second-half goals from Conor Gallagher, Harvey St Clair and Mason Mount have helped Chelsea win the u18 Premier League trophy following a 3-0 win against Reading on Friday evening.

Jody Morris’ side beat Arsenal 3-1 on Tuesday and this meant that a victory of any kind would secure their place as champions again.

Having won the FA Youth Cup and Southern Section already this term, the Young Blues continue to flourish at youth level. It’s fitting that Antonio Conte’s first-team followed the youngsters by securing their second trophy in three seasons with a 1-0 away win over West Brom.

This result also means that Arsenal’s clash with West Ham on Saturday is meaningless, though it’s fair to say that Chelsea are deserved champions after a show of dominance across the league campaign.

Southampton (August), Norwich (September) and Manchester City (April) were Chelsea’s only defeats at u18 level this term and in comparison, Kwame Ampadu’s side can only hope for more consistency in future.

The ability to grind out important wins, especially when not playing at their best, has helped Chelsea across all age-groups and Arsenal know that even though they were defeated at Cobham in the week, there’s plenty of room for improvement before they can be classed as major competitors to the Blues’ throne.
