Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic has revealed the best way for the Whites to keep hold of talented teenager Ryan Sessegnon is by securing promotion to the Premier League amid links with a number of clubs, including Arsenal.
The versatile full-back, who can also play in a more attack-minded role further forward, turns 17 next week and will be eligible to sign his first professional contract. Having excelled during an impressive breakthrough season this term under Jokanovic’s guidance in the senior side though, it’s unsurprising that his performances have been noticed across Europe.
Five goals and three assists in 25 Championship appearances have helped him earn a place in the PFA Team of the Year, the youngest recipient of such an accolade.
Arsenal and Liverpool are just two of the teams that have been linked with his services and even though Fulham have stressed he’s not available for sale, the fact that the Premier League’s top teams are interested means it’s entirely possible that his head could be turned in the near future.
As quoted by an article on getwestlondon the Serbian said, “If we get promoted it’s the best way to keep him [Sessegnon], I talk many times about him and personally believe he is in the right place, he doesn’t need change in this moment.
“It will depend on different sides, for myself I think we will fight to work with him next season. Ryan Sessegnon is fully committed with us and is working hard.“
