Arsenal’s hopes of finishing in the top four this season all rest on relegated Middlesbrough after Liverpool beat West Ham 4-0 at the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

  • Liverpool have one match left; Arsenal and City have two
  • Arsenal beat Stoke 4-1 on Saturday; City beat Leicester 2-1
  • City most likely to finish third; Liverpool fourth; Arsenal fifth

Goals from Daniel Sturridge, Philippe Coutinho and Divock Origi against the Hammers have allowed Liverpool to regain their four-point lead over Arsenal.

The win once again pushes Jurgen Klopp’s side above Manchester City into third with the Blues set to play West Brom on Tuesday and Watford on the final day of the season, Sunday 21 May.

Arsenal meanwhile also have two fixtures left, Sunderland and Everton, while Liverpool only have one left against Middlesbrough next weekend.

Even if Arsenal win against the newly relegated Black Cats midweek, they’ll still be a point behind Liverpool, and their hopes will all rest on Boro on Sunday.
