Arsenal’s player of the season… who else could it be but Alexis Sanchez?

Well, actually it could be any number of players, such as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Granit Xhaka, Shkodran Mustafi, or Laurent Koscielny. However, I feel like the overwhelming majority would say that Alexis Sanchez was Arsenal’s best player of the 2016/17 campaign.

The Chilean made 51 appearances this season: five FA Cup, 38 Premier League, and eight Champions League. He played 4,229 minutes of football.

In this time, he scored 30 goals, 24 of which came in the league alone, which was the third most overall behind Romelu Lukaku (25) and Harry Kane (29).

On top of this, he assisted 19. Therefore, he had a hand in scoring a whopping 49 goals this season. In 4,229 minutes of football, that’s every 36.3 minutes.

The forward received eight yellow cards and no reds.

In the league, Alexis created a total of 78 chances and while his pass accuracy was only 73% on average, he made up for it with his unreal work rate.

The 28-year-old lost zero matches to injury, and only missed four in the League and FA Cups when he was being rested.

Alexis only has a season left on his Arsenal contract so it’s a very real possibility that we won’t see him play for us again, but it was a pleasure while it lasted.
