Arsenal goal of the season

After Aaron Ramsey’s winning header in the FA Cup final against Chelsea on Saturday, I’m finding it difficult not to name that as goal of the season five times.

However, looking back over all competitions during the 2016/17 season, we’ve been pretty spoiled when it comes to stunners. And I’m not just talking about Olivier Giroud.

We’ve had scorpion kicks, beautifully worked team goals, and moments of individual genius.

Of course, we’ve also had cheap goals, scuffled goals, heavily deflected goals and goals that shouldn’t have stood.

However, the less said about those, the better.

Here are my top five Arsenal goals this season.

Granit Xhaka v Nottingham Forest (A) – League Cup

Although Xhaka scored a similar goal against Hull in the league just a few days earlier, this one proved it wasn’t an accident.

Alexis Sanchez v Watford (A) – Premier League

The Chilean almost seemed to score this against Watford backwards – the curl on it was amazing.

Laurent Koscielny v Southampton (H) – Premier League

Kos back at it again, scoring like a striker.

Olivier Giroud v Crystal Palace (H) – Premier League

You can’t NOT include this. To most, this is probably Arsenal’s goal of the season but…

Mesut Ozil v Ludogorets (A) – Champions League

Everything about this goal is sublime. He twists, turns, sends opposition players flying, and then chips the ‘keeper.

Ozil himself even says it’s his favourite goal to date and I can’t blame him.
