Arsene Wenger said that ‘mathematically it was bound to happen’ that Tottenham would finish above Arsenal after his side sealed their own fate at White Hart Lane.

The Arsenal boss was speaking after he watched Tottenham seal their place above Arsenal in the Premier League for the first time in 21 years.

Explaining that Tottenham had won because they’d scored two goals and Arsenal hadn’t and how it was an even game until they scored (for real), he was they asked about them finishing above us and what it means.

Wenger was having none of it. After pointing out, again, that it has happened once in over 20 years, the boss then said, “In 20 years it happened once, mathematically it has to happen once..”

He then cut the interview short with the reporter trying to ask another question and Wenger just walking off.

I don’t think he’s taking it too well, and why should he?

Saying Spurs deserved to win he, once again, had to explain why his side are playing with a lack of confidence and couldn’t cope in a big game. After watching them turn up at Wembley because some personal honour and a medal was at stake, he then watched them revert to type at White Hart Lane.

It’s done, Arsene. You need to let go.
